What is an MGA?

An MGA (Managing General Agent) is a specialised intermediary that is granted Underwriting authority by insurers, meaning they can Underwrite, price and bind coverage on insurance policies.

Who is the Underwriting capacity?

Coverage is provided by certain syndicates at Lloyd’s of London. Lloyd’s holds an A+ (Superior) Financial Strength Rating from AM Best.

How do I obtain a quote?

All quote requests should come from a specialist insurance broker. If you do not have an insurance broker, please email us at quotes@knotlinemarine.com and we can offer you a local recommendation.

Yacht FAQs

What type of yachts do you insure?

We offer comprehensive yacht insurance for the full spread of vessels, including both motor yachts and sailing vessels.

Do you cover performance vessels?

Yes, we currently provide coverage for performance center consoles vessels, with no limit on the number of engines.

Please note, we do not offer cover for performance catamarans or cigarette type hulls.

Is Named/Numbered windstorm coverage available?

Yes, coverage can be provided within mainland USA, Hawaii, Bermuda and Mexico, subject to a satisfactory hurricane preparation plan.

Is a survey required?

We require a condition and valuation survey once the vessel turns 5 years of age, and every 5 years thereafter.

Not always, this will depend on the age of the age, type and use of the vessel.
